4 Reasons Why I Love the Movie Hitch
Recently, I met up and had dinner with a friend. We caught up on each other's lives, and eventually we got on the topic of why things never worked out between us. I kept it real with him and said it was because he never pursued me. He'd often check on me but never made any plans. To me, a pursuit involves more persistence than that. I'm sure he knew this. And living in Atlanta where there's a million women to one man, it's so easy to bounce from one babe to the next without much effort. He told me that I was cynical and I didn't disagree. That conversation reminded of the movie Hitch. Eva Mendes' character, Sara Melas, is a gossip columnist who is also a cynic when it comes to love. In the beginning, Melas' boss tells her, "you're a realist masquerading as a cynic, who's secretly an optimist." I could most definitely relate.Besides being an overall hilarious rom-com, here are a few other reasons why I loved the movie Hitch.
FOUR REASONS WHY I LOVED HITCH, THE MOVIE
- Hitch didn't let his broken past or insecurities keep him from pursuing a woman he was interested in. GASP. And no dinner and a movie either. They went jet-skiing. Do something different and you're sure to please her.
- As tough as she wanted to be, Sara Melas opened up to Hitch when the time was right. "Sometimes it's really hard to see the forest through the sleaze."
- The speed dating scene where Sara and Hitch angrily express themselves. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcXer15_vpA]
- The dance scene at the wedding reception. Soooo me! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inPnVL41N_c]
So, maybe I am a bit cynical when it comes to love for myself. I'm just waiting for someone to change my mind. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
